Antique Changing Table

It's the last week of the baby blog party and this week Elisa of Fancy Free Me is hosting! One of the things I love about her nursery is the use of a wood antique piece serving as a changing table.I see this a lot with a the wood painted out (which is a great idea if you find a piece in less-than-ideal shape) - but how fabulous is leaving the wood? It adds sophistication and character to a room

Nursery Reveal

After months of searching for ideas and putting them all together, I can say this space is finished.  I had so much fun putting it together and now my little boy can enjoy his space for years to come.  This has been one of my favorite projects.  It's packed full of DIY goodness and bargain finds and I love each and every one of them.I wanted his nursery to be fun and young but not so baby where I

Hanging A Mirror With Ribbon

I wanted to hang a mirror in the nursery but wasn't sure how I wanted to do it.  I thought about just gluing a hanger to the back and calling it lovely but I decided a ribbon would give me some more punch of color.I started with a round mirror from Michael's, my orange ribbon, and hot glue. I cut 2 pieces of ribbon the same length.  Remember to burn the edges so they won't fray.  I tried to

Stained Wood Crates

The nursery is coming along great but I still wasn't sure about storage.  I showed you several ideas and was so certain I would end up choosing baskets.  Guess again.Hubby and I were in Home Depot and he mentioned the wooden crates again.  We asked around to see where they would be.  The associate directed us to the store entry and there they were.  The good part, they were marked down to $5.00 a

Color Block Curtains

From the beginning, I wanted to use white curtains in the nursery.  To me, white curtains are clean and just keep the room looking fresh.  But I had the urge to add more color to them.  I had been searching for a cool fabric to make curtains but I wasn't ready to fork out big bucks for it.  I also thought about using ribbon to add a border around the inside edges like this but I ended up using

Easy Giraffe Art

Here's some easy art for the nursery.  I wanted some inexpensive art to put on the shelf above the changing table.  This project took nothing more than a frame and scrapbook paper.  I've had this pinned and decided to give it a try.I searched for giraffe heads on google and printed it out large enough to fill my frame.  I cut it out, traced it onto scrapbook paper, and glued it to white paper.  I

DIY Elephant Mobile

I was going back and forth on whether I wanted a mobile for the nursery.  Sure they're cute and all but I don't remember my daughter being over excited for hers when she was a baby.  I was doing a Pinterest search for nurseries and came across several DIY versions.  There is this one with just circles that is cute.sourceI also happened to come across this one.  It was the same concept but used

Toy Storage Ideas

I've been thinking about the storage elements for the nursery.  Although there aren't any toys yet, I know they will be soon coming.  We're gonna need a place to corral all of them.  In my daughter's room we went with the Trofast from Ikea.  The white color was perfect to match her other furniture and we were able to choose from an assortment of colors in the interchangeable bins.sourceI love the

The Nursery Light

I came to a decision on the light for the nursery.  I jumped in the car and made a quick trip to Ikea.  I decided on the Alang in the larger 18" size.It has that modern shape I was looking for without spending a ton of money.  Here it is right out of the box.  It has a woven texture which I thought was plastic in the store but it's actually cloth.  The light comes with the diffuser so that's an

Let's Talk Lights

Back in November we had overhead lighting installed in the nursery.  We used a temporary light until the right light came along. This what the light was looking like.Pretty boring right?  I know I want some sort of drum light in there so I started looking around.  My first stop was Shades of Light.  I had read good things about them around blogland.  I entered orange in my search and this came
